Breathtaking views towards Capri and the Amalfi Coast
Perched on a hilltop immersed in green, Casa Colibri provides seclusion just a few minutes' walk away from shops and a medieval village for the holiday of a lifetime.

Our Story
Casa Colibri is a home evolved in over fifty years of the Dutch Marx family's ownership into a comfortable and spacious summer home with two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Equipped with new air conditioning, wifi and a broad balcony it is ideal for two or a family of four.
Allard’s father Iddo Marx used to fly over the area on his way to the Far East and he asked his wife Carla to put a pin in the map of the general area: it landed on Castellabate.

They hot-footed it down here to find a rural hilltop village and fishing village below somewhat stuck in the nineteen fifties. The views were stunning, the beaches golden, the water clear and the village beautiful. The unpretentiousness of its people, their humility and closeness to the land was immediately enchanting, and because the family had previously lived in Italy, they could communicate at a time when few people here spoke English. (Many still don’t). Food was, and remains, authentically 'slow' and mostly locally sourced.
Next came their fervent wish to not ever run the risk of someone else obscuring the view and the couple picked a steep plot dotted with olive trees. Early years were spartan affairs with carrying of 25 litre jerrycans of water and half finished rooms. Allowed to re-wild, the land is now covered in trees all the way down to the next road below. Hot summers were spent here annually and now the second and third generations get to enjoy the house during school holidays.
Occasionally we now invite a select few people to revive their souls in our Italian summer home when we are not here and of course we hope you will enjoy it, and the area around, as much as we do.

Best Wishes,
